Nella-Trijntje: My name is Nella-Trijntje and I am 19 years old. I am currently in my second year of International Hospitality Management (hotel school). In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my girlfriends.

Emma: My name is Emma. I am 18 years old and I live and study in Rotterdam. I am currently in my third year of the Interior Design Advisor program. In my free time, I love traveling and doing fun things with my friends.

How did you end up at Strandpaviljoen ’t Badhuys?

Nella-Trijntje: I really wanted to work somewhere on an island together with a friend. Eventually, we chose Vlieland because she had been there many times before. For me, it was my first time.
Emma: I have been coming to Vlieland my whole life. After graduating from high school, I had a long summer holiday ahead of me. I wanted to spend that holiday in a useful but enjoyable way, so I immediately thought of ’t Badhuys.

What does your perfect workday look like? What is your favorite task?

Nella-Trijntje: My perfect workday is when the sun is shining, there are fun guests visiting us, and my favorite colleagues are working. And if the sunset is beautiful that evening too, then it’s absolutely perfect. My favorite task is cleaning something outside, especially when it’s sunny.
Emma: My perfect workday is, of course, with nice weather, which is why I enjoy serving outside on the terrace. I always like it when there are fun guests you can chat with in between. But a great atmosphere with colleagues also makes my workday perfect.

What do you enjoy doing most after work on Vlieland?

Nella-Trijntje: Having drinks with my colleagues and going for walks around the island.
Emma: After work, I love doing fun things on the island: having drinks, going to the beach, and walking around. Preferably together with my colleagues.

What is the funniest or most memorable moment you’ve experienced at ’t Badhuys so far?

Nella-Trijntje: When I got stuck with the Briesmobiel (the little car that can drive on the beach) behind the Badhuys and had to be rescued by the handyman.

How do you keep things fun within the team, even during the busiest moments?

Nella-Trijntje & Emma: Humor! It’s important to be able to joke around while working, even when it’s super busy. That’s what keeps it fun!

What is your favorite period to work on Vlieland and why?

Nella-Trijntje: The summer holiday, because there are lots of fun colleagues and the weather is lovely. That also means you can still do fun things after work.
Emma: The summer holiday. It’s nice and busy on the island, there are many colleagues, and there’s always something going on. But I also really enjoy working during the Christmas holidays. The atmosphere at ’t Badhuys feels extra cozy and warm then.

What would you say to someone who is unsure about working here as a holiday worker or weekend employee?

Nella-Trijntje: Just do it! I honestly had the best time of my life here.
Emma: Don’t hesitate, and don’t be afraid to come to the island alone either. I did that myself when I was 15 years old and worked my first weekend on Vlieland. I’ve had the chance to meet so many new people, and I’m very grateful for that.
